Timbertown Miniature Railway Information.
Come and join a friendly Society.
We try and run our Society differently to most clubs, the emphasis being more on "playing" trains and further development of the hobby. The executive manages the Society on behalf of the members and we have a meeting of members at 10am on the 1st Sunday of the month, which is also the public running day. These meetings are quite frequently followed by a lunchtime BBQ.
We also run on the 3rd Sunday of the month as a public running day, as well as during special occasions and school holidays.
To help maintain the trains and track we also have a Thursday Maintenance Group of members who meet each Thursday (weather permitting) to do maintenance of the trains, track and surrounds of the area.
The Society is affiliated with the Australian Association of Live Steamers (AALS) and operate under safety guidelines adopted by the AALS.
You do not have to be building a locomotive or anything else for that matter to be a member - just a keen interest in model engineering or railways.
If you are building a live steam model - the Society has its own AMBSC qualified Boiler Inspector. Any steam powered model at the track must have an approved AMBSC Boiler Certificate. We also have several experienced model engineers who can assist you to overcome any difficulties on model building.
If your interest isn't in something quite as large as 5 or 7-1/4 inch gauges, we are also custodians of an HO/OO model railway which ultimately will be set up in a club shed. There are members with interests in garden railways and even traction engines.
We have a member who has bought his own diesel engine and carriages that are also situated and run at the track when required, and can be run if the steam engine requires maintenance.
As you can see we have a very diverse range of interests in our Society, so come along and see what we are all about!
